SIMPLE AND FUN

This 3 day workshop is designed to help you understand what is between your current canter and the canter you want to have. You will learn about the important qualities that will make or break your canter progress. You will learn why those are so crucial. You will learn how to assess YOUR horse's canter. We will look at footage of many of the participants' canter together so that you can see how this assessment works. And you will learn what can be improved and how you can most effectively approach that improvement.

CLARITY

At the end of this workshop, you will have a much clearer idea of what you can do to improve your horse's canter so that you can make progress in the training.

RESERVE YOUR SPOT

Conventional wisdom says that for dressage you need to buy a horse with a good walk and a good canter because these gaits are difficult, if not impossible, to improve, whereas it is much easier to

improve the trot. Like many generalised rules, it is not altogether wrong, but it’s not completely true, either. On the one hand, it is accurate to say that horses with a calm, round, uphill canter and good suspension are much easier to train than horses with a rushy, scratchy, downhill canter. On the other hand, it is possible to improve the canter quite a bit, if you know how.

SET YOUR CANTER UP FOR SUCCESS

  • Well balanced walk and trot
  • Through the back
  • On the bit
  • Relatively straight
  • Half halts go through
  • Shoulders can turn
  • Hind legs can sidestep
