The Half Halt Explained

Learn how to use the half halt with the finesse and tact of a Classical Dressage Master without the frustration, feeling incapable, or years of trial and error (and time-wasting detours).

This is a 10-module course focussed entirely on the half-halt.

It may come as a relief that instead of repeatedly shouting half-halt at you with the hope it will make a difference....
this course contains straightforward explanations that consider both horse and rider biomechanics, clear video demonstrations, and the tools and support to help you progressively develop your skills, feel, timing, and refine your technique.

The course will address:

#1- The Function of the Half Halt
#2- The Ingredients and Components of the Half-Halt
#3- Applying the Half Halt
#4- The Correct Timing of the Half Halt
#5- The Half-Halt Goldilocks Zone
#6- Gathering Feedback to Assess Results
#7- Feeling the Rhythm of the Half Halt
#8- Navigating the Half Halt with Finesse
#9- Common Mistakes of the Half-Halt
#10- Rider Influence and Alignment

The Topline Makeover Course

Learn to use groundwork to correctly develop your horses topline.
"When horses are moving in a healthy balance, their musculature will reflect that."

This is a 14-week quality-focused program that gives you the understanding and techniques you need to sculpt, rebuild, and repair your horse’s topline ALL COMPLETELY FROM THE GROUND.

This non-riding course introduces you to using longeing, double-longeing, work-in-hand, and long reining to systematically build the horse’s movement patterns which support and rebuild a healthy topline.

In addition, this course introduces a new Bodywork concept called FeldenHorse developed by Catherine McCrum which are Feldenkrais-based lessons you do with your horse on the ground.

The New 2024 Course begins on February 16, 2024

With expert support and feedback, and detailed lessons with written, video and audio content, you will soon be able to identify the gaps in your horses training and confidently embark on a groundwork programme specifically designed for your horse.

Overcoming Insecurities and Riding the horse “on the aids” and “on the seat”

This month we are continuing from last month’s topic of steering with the seat. We are going one layer deeper and exploring riding the horse on the seat and aids. What does this actually mean?!? Why is this relevant for dressage? How do you know whether your horse is on the seat and aids? And what can you do to get the horse on your seat and aids?

Also this month we are going to deal with a mindset issue that I know every rider deals with at some point: Insecurity. Regardless of whether it comes from someone who has belittled you, an accident or bad situation, or a deep-seated anxiety or concern that you are not “good enough”... there are some key mindset shifts that can help you to step outside of the habitual patterns of thinking that you have and explore new possibilities. Catherine McCrum will be joining us for this discussion and we are so looking forward to it!

The featured exercise this month is called “Fearless” and is a fun exercise Thomas came up with in January with his stallion, Gulipipas, and he wanted to share it with you all. This is a great straightening, balancing, and suppling exercise in which all parts of the horse’s body have to participate, and the hind legs have to support a large part of the body mass. It increases the horse’s agility and lightness.

At the end of the month, during our Hot Seats Session, we will review several members’ videos of themselves riding this exercise and give tips and feedback. Whether we review your video or you are just watching, you are sure to come away with some tips that will help you in your riding.

Last but not least, this month’s featured Feldenkrais lesson is called the Exploring the Kneeling Seat. This lesson is ALWAYS a fabulous choice, but will be particularly “on point” with this month’s featured topics because it not only helps you to ride the horse more “on the seat and aids” but it also helps you to establish a deeper seat… and THAT can help you feel less insecure in the saddle.

Okay! Let’s do it!
